Come celebrate the Holiday season at Bloom and Bark Farm.  Our Local Artisan Market will be filled with local art and fine crafts ranging from glass to fiber and everything in-between.  We have something for everyone on your shopping list. We also have gift certificates available for those that would like to give the experience of glass blowing!

Small Business Saturday 11/30 we will be giving away Glass Blown Icicles to our fist 15 customers!

Join us on the Farm Saturday, October 12, 2019 9am – 5pm

Bloom and Bark Farm & Glass Blowing Studio will be teaming up on Saturday only for the Van Buren County Scenic Drive Festival. The weekend long festival is Southeast Iowa’s Largest Arts, Crafts and Flea Market Event! This celebration of fall pulls in thousands of visitors and covers 11 different communities throughout Van Buren County.

Here on Bloom and Bark Farm, Artist Tim Blair will be demonstrating the hot art of glass blowing throughout the day. In addition, we will be demonstrating our hand-crafted clay ovens and baking delicious artisan breads.

Along with all the demonstrations, our Local Artisan Market will be filled with art from several artists from our area. We will also have several other artists and crafts set up on the farm.

Here is just the beginning list of all the great Artists and Crafters that will be set up on our farm. We are still seeking more vendors, contact us for details. Set up is FREE! Give us a holler if you would like an application.

  • Hershey’s Honey – All the good stuff made by bees.
  • Craig Wills – Creates stained glass panels, sun catchers, gazing ball and snowmen.
  • Wire Works by Kathleen – Hand-beaded serving pieces, beaded spoons with serving bowls, coffee scoops, and baby spoons.
  • Sonja Hoie – Yarn and textiles, created from her flock of Icelandic Sheep which graze on the Thomas Home Farm.
  • Lamb Lane Farm – Felted wool, silk and up-cycled items turned into beautiful scarves and figurines.
  • Mrs. Milkweed – Amazingly delicious pickles, jams and baked goods.
  • Deming Naturescapes Studio – Watercolor paintings, wood craft/signs, wood burning, walnut serving boards.
  • Four Dirty Boys Soap – Hand crafted goat milk soap and bath bombs.
  • KimmyKats – Painted canvas, repurposed items, silverware jewelry.
  • Midgard Fibers – Ear warmers, coasters, mug cozies and more, all created using the ancient fiber craft of Nalbinding.
  • Grandmas Pumpkin Patch – Pumpkins, gourds, corn shocks, broom corn, straw and mums.
  • Unique Creations by Tammie – Candles, wax melts and soaps.

Join us for the 11th Annual J40 Farm Crawl Saturday, August 10, 2019

A day filled with food, farm tours, horse drawn wagon rides, local artists, history, wine tasting, hand crafted furniture, glass blowing, petting zoo, and so much fun for the whole family!

Start the day off with a delicious home cooked breakfast at the Amish School, than wander down the road to explore the 6 different participating farms, businesses, and museum along the route.

Here at Bloom and Bark Farm you can explore our gardens and greenhouses, see how a hand-crafted clay oven bakes delicious artisan breads, sample fresh produce and bread with a cold glass of mint water. 

 Tour our Glass Blowing Studio and watch demonstrations by glass artists Tim Blair, Jim Topic, Ian Anderson and Tristan Edmund. 

 

Explore our new Local Artisan Market featuring the work of several local artists.

The Galvinators will be helping us celebrate the day with Live Music from 1-3pm here on the farm!

All of these great Business will be set up here at Bloom and Bark Farm.

  • The Villages Folk School will be set with several artists on hand demonstrating and selling their art.  Join artist Pat Crawford as she teaches how to fuse nature on to cloth
  • Crane Winery will be sampling their delicious sweet wines.
  • Hershey’s Honey will be set up and selling all the good stuff their bees produce.
  • Sonja Hoie will have yarn and textiles for sale, created from her flock of Icelandic Sheep which graze on the Thomas Home Farm.
  • Douglas Blackwolf is one of our amazing local blacksmiths.  He will be set up and demonstrating this ancient art.  He will also have some of his forged pieces available for sale.
  • Van Buren Art Club will be grilling hotdogs and brats with all the fix’ins.  They will also have a delightful display of their art.
  • Fairfield Girls Swim Team will be serving up freshly spun cotton candy.
  • We also have several others great things in the works – so stay tuned for updates!

You will also have the opportunity to explore all these amazing businesses and farms just down the road: 

  • Lengacher’s Greenhouse & Variety Store:  Explore the gardens, greenhouses and variety store and take a ride on a horse drawn wagon.
  • Yoder’s Indian Creek Furniture:  Along with all the finely crafted furniture they will have a petting zoo and free homemade ice cream.
  • Troy Academy:  Explore the amazing history of this beautifully preserved structure.
  • Milton CreameryCheese!  And not just any cheese, worldwide award winning cheese!  Come sample, enjoy!

J40 Farm Crawl is Celebrating their 10th Year Anniversary!

Join us for the J40 Farm Crawl Saturday, August 11, 2018

A day filled with food, farm tours, wagon rides, local artists, history, wine tasting, hand crafted furniture, and so much fun for the whole family!

Start the day off with a delicious home cooked breakfast at the Amish School, than wander down the road to explore the 7 different participating farms, businesses, and museum along the route.

Here at Bloom and Bark Farm you can explore our gardens and greenhouses, see how a hand-crafted clay oven bakes delicious artisan breads, sample fresh produce and bread with a cold glass of mint water.  Tour our Glass Blowing Studio and watch demonstrations by artist Tim Blair. 

We have been cutting trees and stripping bark for the Hobbit House.  We have the wall uprights in place and hope to have the roof supports up before the Crawl.  Progress is slow but steady on this awesome structure.

This year we will also have Live Music throughout the day here on the farm!

All of these great Business will be set up here at Bloom and Bark Farm.

  • Mrs. Mercantile (aka Alline Anderson) will be selling her amazingly delicious pickles along with her delightful decoupage collage boxes.

A day filled with food, farm tours, wagon rides, local artist, history, wine tasting, hand crafted furniture, live music  and so much fun for the whole family!

Start the day off with a delicious home cooked breakfast at the Amish School, than wander down the road to explore the 9 different participating farms, businesses, and museum along the route.

  1. At Pittsburg General Store you will meet and observe artist Bob Norman, Iowa’s only formally train oil painting conservator.
  2. At Bloom and Bark Farm you can explore our gardens and greenhouses, see how a hand-crafted clay oven bakes delicious artisan breads, sample fresh produce and bread with a cold glass of mint water.  Tour our new Glass Blowing Studio and watch demonstrations by artist Jim Topic.  Then check out the progress we have made with our hand built Hobbit House.  Live music from 2pm-4pm by the Fairtown Ramblers.
  3. The Village Folks School will be set up on Bloom and Bark Farm with several artists on hand demonstrating and selling their art.  Along with providing information about their classes.
  4. Crane Winery will be tasting their delicious sweet wines and Dang Dag BBQ will be sampling their amazing sauce both a Bloom and Bark Farm.
  5. At Lengacher’s Greenhouse horse-drawn wagon rides will take you through out their farm, where you will see bounties of beautiful mums and fresh produce.
  6. Amish School will be serving a delicious homemade breakfast complete with biscuits & gravy and pancakes and sausage.  Free will donations will be accepted.
  7. Yoder’s Indian Creek Furniture will have their show room full of beautiful hand-crafted hardwood furniture along with discounts on poly furniture.  In addition to all the eye catching beauty, your taste buds will be enticed with free homemade ice cream.
  8. The Troy Academy, the first institution of higher education west of the Mississippi, will be open for guided tours.
  9. Milton Creamery will be open all day sampling their award winning cheese made from the milk of local Amish farms.
